MODIFY your way of thinking when it comes to anomalous data formats

How often have we found ourselves in the situation where the data that we require for a particular report may be found in two or more incongruent data files? Surprise! Both files have similar keys but the date part of the first is a ‘date range’ and the other is in a “record per day” format. To further complicate matter , the date range in the first may run across the year end.
How in the world do we effect an efficient and effective JOIN?
Fear not.. this is one of problems that the attendee will learn to overcome, utilizing a little used but extremely powerful FOCUS tool called MODIFY which incidentally forms a part of your WebFOCUS and Mainframe FOCUS installations.
